Re: “Collision injuries not an inhibitor for police in enforcing traffic violations

The new SF mommy government has turned the streets of SF upside down and now pedestrians rule the streets. In most other BIG CITIES this is not the case and for (obviously) good reason. Fear is the pedestrians best friend on the streets, the fear morphs into extreme caution and a better understanding of what not to do.

This was how San Francisco was since the auto was invented and it is in practice in most large cities around the world. Our new nanny government here wants a more small town feel, w/ a slower pace. Where everyone is the same, relaxed, kind, and happy. They don't care about reality because they know they can twist reality to appease them and their supporters. Well instead of having a street smart society like in Europe, Asia, So. America you have our form of politically correct streets, only problem is more pedestrians die on them.

How is it deemed common sense when an able bodied male/female pedestrian standing in a cross walk has the right of way over an able bodied motorist? Is it because it is a hardship to stand? Wasn't before. Why would a pedestrian have more rights to the street than someone driving a 5,000 or 10,000 lb. vehicle? Why? It makes absolutely no sense.

In the olds days when common sense was more important then creating traffic calming work for city workers people used common sense on the city streets.

Motorist were much more considerate of the pedestrian in bad weather, or w/ bags, and kids / elderly at a crosswalk were always given extra consideration by SF motorist. In the the 70's and 80's before the wackos drove the kids out of the city it was full of kids.

We didn't have these issues then. Why?

Because we didn't have full time politicians in city hall trying to find something to do. The streets of SF were a place where many kind acts of consideration took place everywhere. A thousand times a day motorist and pedestrians interacted w/ each other in a positive way at the intersections but then came (2000) the big mommy. Mommy put thousands of (eye sore) stop signs up to protect us from our considerate selfs. Mommy doesn't trust you anymore and mommy is now having the police ticket you incessantly because you're bad. The soul of this city is long gone, replaced w/ condescending incompetent leaders w/ no backbone. Only a need for more and more money to appease the lunatic fringe that now runs the city. So... you get what you pay for, every move you make is guided by mommy and she is filming your every move as well. Get rid of district elections and full time city supervisors and then the old San Francisco will eventually return. The street smart happy place it used to be.

Re: “Family of man killed by SF police prepares to sue The City, claims the shooting was unjustified

I use to support (and like) the SFPD but in the last 5 years they have gone from first to worst. All they want is my money and if I make one mistake they're there to punish me w/ a $500 ticket. Our new democratic socialist city needs much more money to waste than before and the SFPD are revenue collectors now. Everyday I see them flaunt the law and then hand out $300 movers to city motorist several times a day. So in 2014 I don't believe a word that comes out of their (SFPD) mouths.

Regarding the shooting; unless there is a witness we'll never know what happened. Did this dead guy have a police record?
Oh...where are the SF cops w/ heart? Enjoying a fantastic retirement that's where.

Re: “Supervisor David Campos responds to letter from police officers’ union

Get rid of district elections. Get rid of full time supervisors. The problems started when these concepts were created.

The democratic party use to be the least corrupt. Now they excel in corruption and the cows (citizens) never look up.

The dems are now changing all the San Francisco street name signs to the politically correct hard to read ones you see about the city. The cost of this mindless classless process? What...2 million?

They are the city street signs most San Franciscans have grown up w/ and now this job takes priority above other civic duties. Who decided the old street signs needed to go? How much does this insult cost?

You're all suckers and you won't get the respect you should have until city hall respects money. Right now they're just getting their buddies city jobs. What kind of jobs? How about redesigning the streets, changing the street name signs, giving the streets to the Bike coalition, allowing bums to sleep wherever they want, brown nosing unions and giving them pensions of 90% of their (bloated) salaries, etc. etc.

So if the cops want to break the laws (happens everyday), TOUGH!

What will tomorrow bring? Nothing good in the form of city management. Do away w/ full time dupes and district elections and then the powerful fanatics (bicycle coalition) will fade into the background.

Re: “Reimagined startup seeks to provide cars, drivers for app-based ride services

When I see one THESE SCABS on the street they'll get the finger. They're stealing the income of trained cab drivers and they are given access to our streets by incompetent supervisors who have no clue about fair play.

Re: “Bike activists to keep track of corridor injuries in opposition to Polk Street plan

District elections allow these bike nuts to thrive and dictate the rules of the road. Do away w/ district elections and these slime ball bike nazis will disappear too.

Oh and the city better not reduce driving lanes on second street because that's how taxis get to ATT. It;s not easy now w/ 2 lanes but it is doable. They better consider the transit path to ATT before they let the bike nazis to have their way.

Re: “Removal of old Bay Bridge span to be sped up with $12.7 million contract increase

Bruce, The old bridge held up great in 89. The contractors said it would cost more to repair one towers shorings than to replace the whole bridge. The bought and paid for the local and state politicians convinced the voting public to replace the entire span.

The percentage of the old bridge that failed was probably less then 5% and the contractors had an opportunity to make a lot of money building a new bridge. The original cost of a new bridge multiplied by 7 is what we paid. We got hustled by the politicians and the bridge builders when the old one still worked and worked well. Thank you very much.

Did you know the city is changing all the street name signs at every corner from easy to read bold signs (that have been used all my life) to new prissy politically correct signs w/ upper and lower case letters. How much does that cost I wonder? To go from original SF street signs to the new prissy ones that are hard to read.

One big waste of tax money after another. Thank you Democrats for ignoring the city's kids, the elderly, the infrastructure, historical landmarks, etc. We need the prissy new street name signs much more then common sense needs the city's has. The spoiled brats in city hall have a different kind of reality.
