Re: “It’s official: Circumcision ban off November ballot in San Francisco

@Bataisflow: Thank you for a comment that reflects your intelligence, your compassion, and especially your critical thinking skills.  Always good to hear from the other side.

Re: “Snip it or skip it? San Francisco debates circumcision

Circumcision
is really the mark of your parent's ignorance.  Now that the internet is
here and people are talking, there is no excuse for ignorance.

By the way, racism is spelled "racism".

Re: “Anti-circumcision movement is anti-Semitic, says San Francisco city attorney

@John: Male circumcision is approximately equivalent to a "Type 2 FGM" where the clitoris, the clitoral hood and the labia are removed.    That is about 20,000 nerves each, including the stretch receptors and the meissner's corpuscles.     A clitoris by itself has "only" about 8000 nerves.
Of course they are both genital mutilations.  Only your cultural bias prevents you from recognizing this.  Unless you are also circumcised, then you'd have additional personal bias.

@Scott: "Why can't people just mind their own f*king business? Is that too much to ask for???"
That is EXACTLY what the ballot measure was about.  The only penis anyone should be considering circumcising, is the one that is their own.  Parents should NOT think of children (or their foreskins) as property, to be disposed of as they see fit.   The foreskin is the child's and will be his when he's an adult.  Nobody else's.

@FRIEDMAN2009: "Doctors have said that the baby has not developed sensory pain feelings in the penis at age 7-8 days."
This bull must be very reassuring to you.  Nothing like the voice of authority.    No credible evidence exists for this opinion, but if you are circumcising a child, it helps if everyone believes it.
I have seen enough videos and know how easily people lie to themselves about this, but video doesn't lie.  Doctors do, Rabbis do and parents do.  They have to, to keep circumcising.

Re: “It’s official: Circumcision ban off November ballot in San Francisco

@Ken Green: Ken,
I am a Jew, I and in part you are right.  Jews have distinguished themselves in many fields.
Yet, you are wrong to think that this intactivists hate Jews for being successful.  It is not about that.  It is about the sexual mutilation of defenseless children.  The Jews are rather perverse in carrying this stone age blood sacrifice along with them, into the modern world.  Thinking Jews and others have looked at circumcision and found it is questionable.  It is not ethical in their minds to be doing it TO children.
You can read many Jews on the subject of the problematic ethics and the peculiar history and liturgy of the Bris Milah.  Leonard Glick, Ron Goldman and Rabbi Lawrence Hoffman in particular.   Jews themselves question the ethics of Infant circumcision, and rightly so.
As I said, I am a Jew and I have 2 sons.  They have intact genitals, -just like my daughters would have had, if I had daughters instead of sons.  Infant/child circumcision has no place in a religion that claims to value ethical thinking and behavior.   Circumcision's ethical dilemma cannot be resolved by  the Gender of the child being circumcised.   That is insanity.
