@ Awayneramsey......Excellent post , as always..
It is acceptable that some are attempting to solve human problems rather than building political capital for anarchy. Although this analysis seems more in conformity with attempting to predict human action, before the fact, adversarial parenting might be a factor in what the essayist conveys to readers as “toxic stress,” originating, perhaps from counter-culture, ignorance and preternatural dissoluteness, as inputs. The subaltern implied in the old proverb, “as is the father, so is the son,” sometimes applies.
Buy Parkmerced back from Fortress Investments LLC and place it in a land-trust, with new developed infill units, and redo of the towers, utilizing the mills act to preserve, restore and renovate the existing low-scale townhouse family styled units and landscape.
but first extend the M-Line to daly city bart, and the L-line up sloat back to west portal.
This day, remember what happened 72 years ago.
Now tell yourself, which struggle had better results and why?
Amos Brown talking about Nelson Mandala; one failed bigot yakking about a successful one.
South Africa today is the murder capital of the world. A nation where a woman is raped every 30 seconds mostly by AIDs carriers who go unpunished, and where white citizen treatment is anything comparable to a free and equal democratic country. If a leader is to be judged by his works, the country Mandela left behind is an indictment of his political career, and not an achievement worthy of praise. Mandela began as a terrorist and never turned his back on monsters like Arafat and Castro.
You forgot "circumcision" -- another ban that was proposed but not adopted.
@RobertoRobot2 One of the most tedious arguments trotted out by Zionists: That the Palestinians can't expect support until they renounce Anti-Semitism. And it's the same argument that gets brought out again and again to delegitimize anti-colonial struggles whenever and wherever they occur. Thirty years ago they would have been arguing that the ANC needed to stop talking about killing whites before they could expect support. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcOXqFQw2hc Do I like anti-Semitic rhetoric? No. But it's unrealistic to expect that a people that is undergoing forced population transfers, home demolitions, daily violence by settlers and soldiers, checkpoints, harassment, murder and torture by a racist state is not going to harbor less than enthusiastic feelings about Jews.
But really, in this case no one said or did anything anti-Semitic. Even in the knife photo, the dude said "Israeli soldier," and the original controversy was over people saying that their heroes had always killed colonizers. Colonizers and Israeli soldiers, not "Jews."
Bet it's an NSA spy vessel. Think the Google streetview car, with ultra high res cameras on a naval vessel that can zoom in on a hair folicule on your forehead. Add some infrared/nv in the mix for extra epicness. Watch them add a feature to Google+ so that you can willingly give the NSA more info about you, like maybe an iphone app that sends your GPS coordinates for quick target acquisition by their long range cameras! Hooray for the NSA, spying is fun. Yay.
Nelson Mandela believed in racial equality. Anti-apartheid revolution and democracy became possible in South Africa on 1994, the rest of the world is waiting for his kind of heroes. This gallery was about my visit to Mandela Museum in Soweto in May, and published it for His last birthday in July 2013. Believe in whatever god you like, this guy deserved his place in Heaven. http://miikkajarvinen.wordpress.com/2013/07/18/mandela/
@ Salvaje, no rational person would deny that the Palestinians have legitimate complaints. But as long as activists for Palestine refuse to divorce themselves from the kill-the-Jews crowd, their movement will forever be marginalized.
How can I trust any pro-Palestine group when I know that the movement is so notorious for harboring virulent, murderous anti-Semitism?
It may be different on a superficial level from the situation of American Indians but not on any meaningful level. The Israelis have Palestinians penned in essentially on reservations and are expanding to the point where it threatens the viability of ANY Palestinian society. Meanwhile the state of Israel can only exist by importing more and more Jews to keep the Palestinians a demographic minority within Israel proper. It was founded by European settlers on the basis of the displacement of the indigenous population of the region. Seems pretty similar to me.
Really interesting Jessica, thanks!
I think that you would be really interested in some recent research that I have come across explaining crowds and citizen science. In particular I feel you may find these two emerging pieces of research very relevant:
- The Theory of Crowd Capital
- The Contours of Crowd Capability
Powerful stuff, no?
FYI, George Smith III is employed as clerical support at the Department of Child Support Services, NOT the community outreach coordinator.
Hopefully all the homeless will get the hint and leave.
The city must have those programmers, so that they can tax them to pay the Homeless Industrial Complex to maintian those people's Kafkaesque situations.
It's a relic of 70's thinking, when suburbanization was rampant, that we feel the best place to keep the utterly unemployable is in the middle of a hotbed of jobs.
Open the Tenderloin and SOMA to market rate housing, or even subsidized housing for the poor working class, those who work our kitchens, clean our homes, pour our coffee, and send the prison discharge to a nice suburb in the middle of the mojave desert..
And what about the decent law-abidng LEGAL citizens? When we do we start getting freebies?
@Watching, wow, that's scary as hell.
