26-year-old may be culprit in robbery string

Police say they have caught the man believed to be responsible for a string of robberies across San Francisco early Sunday morning.

A 26-year-old man was arrested at 7 a.m. Sunday in Bernal Heights on suspicion of robbing a 40-year-old man who was walking in the 400 block of Cortland Avenue, police said. The suspect allegedly approached the man and demanded money and his wallet, Officer Samson Chan said.

Police are investigating whether the man, whose identity was not released, is responsible for robberies at 30th and Church streets and Seventh Avenue and Anza Street.

In all three, the robber used a black handgun.
