A father who had been searching for his 13-year-old girl after she snuck out of their Half Moon Bay home early Monday found her partially unclothed in the back of a 26-year-old man's truck, according to prosecutors.
That man, Gregorio Padilla-Luis of Half Moon Bay, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to three felony counts of lewd acts with a child in connection with a nearly yearlong relationship with the girl that began when she was 12, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
Monday's search for the girl began after her father was reportedly awakened by the sound of the house's front door shutting about 1 a.m. When the family found her a half-hour later in the back seat of Padilla-Luis' car, Padilla-Luis professed his love for the girl.
They had reportedly been together for a year and had sex seven times, each time in Padilla-Luis' truck, Wagstaffe said.
The two had met at a dance in Half Moon Bay, Wagstaffe added, although it wasn't immediately clear what kind of dance it was.
Padilla-Luis remains in custody on $300,000 bail and is expected to appear in court for a preliminary hearing July 5.
