A proposal to allow a proposed bowling alley in the Mission to serve alcohol comes under review Monday by the Small Business Commission.
Backing by the commission would help the business plan win approval by the Board of Supervisors when it reconvenes from its legislative recess.
The commission will vote Monday on whether to back legislation introduced by supervisors Jane Kim and Scott Wiener that would allow the proposed bowling alley to serve alcohol. The envisioned six-lane alley and bar/restaurant at 17th Street and South Van Ness Avenue is located in an area that has restrictions on new alcohol sale licenses.
“The current code does not allow alcohol from the restaurant into the bowling area,” said Sommer Peterson, of the Mission Bowling Club project, in an e-mail, “and that is what we are working to amend with legislation.”
“We are small-business owners working with a handful of investors to finance this project,” she said.
The commission meets at City Hall at 5:30 p.m. in Room 400.
