Roseanne and family reunite for sitcom reboot

It’s been 29 years — about time for a “Roseanne” revival.

An eight-episode update of the sitcom is officially back in production, confirmed by “sneak peek” picture on social media with original cast members Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Michael Fishman and both actresses who played Becky: Lecy Goranson and Sarah Chalke.

They’re sitting on the set of the Conner family home.

The groundbreaking show about the lovable and realistic blue-collar Conners aired from 1988 to 1997, winning 17 Emmys over its healthy run.

Gossip websites say the new show came about after Goodman went on “The Talk,” Gilbert’s TV talk show in the spring, and they did a brief “Roseanne” parody, which went over well.

In interviews, Goodman said he’d be interested in a revival, while Barr tweeted, “Of course I want to do a reboot of ‘Roseanne’ — new political reality in our country will make for some great jokes!”

There’s no word on how the new show will handle the plot point that Goodman’s character, dad Dan Conner, died of a heart attack in the original 1997 series finale.

The show is slated to return to ABC in 2018.

OBAMAS’ PORTRAIT PAINTERS

The Obamas have made bold choices about the way they’ll be depicted in the nation’s only complete collection of presidential portraits outside the White House,

Former President Barack Obama selected Kehinde Wiley, whose subjects have included the Notorious B.I.G., LL Cool J, Ice T, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and Michael Jackson, to paint his official portrait for the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery.

Michelle Obama selected Amy Sherald, known for challenging stereotypes in life-size paintings of African-Americans.

Both portraits will be unveiled in 2018, where they will be added to the museum’s permanent collection.
