John Hillerman, the Emmy-winning co-star of TV’s “Magnum, P.I.,” died Thursday at his home in Houston.

Spokeswoman Lori De Waal announced that the 84-year-old actor died, but did not reveal the cause.

Hillerman played stuffy Jonathan Quayle Higgins III to Tom Selleck’s free-wheeling private detective Thomas Magnum in the hit 1980s show set in Hawaii.

Among his other notable TV roles were Bonnie Franklin’s boss on “One Day at a Time” and radio show detective Simon Brimmer on “Ellery Queen.”

He appeared in four Peter Bogdanovich movies — “The Last Picture Show,” “What’s Up, Doc?,” “Paper Moon” and “At Long Last Love,” as well as in Clint Eastwood’s “High Plains Drifter,” Mel Brooks’ “Blazing Saddles,” Roman Polanski’s “Chinatown,” and Stanley Donen’s “Lucky Lady.”

His last movie was 1996’s “A Very Brady Sequel.”

O.J. BANNED FROM VEGAS HOTEL

Why aren’t we overly surprised to hear about TMZ’s report that O.J. Simpson got kicked out of the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday after allegedly getting drunk and unruly?

The former football player, actor and defendant for the Southern California murder of Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman, apparently has been frequenting the hotel’s bars since he was released on parole after almost nine years in prison in Nevada (convicted on armed robbery and kidnapping charges).

ABC News in Las Vegas reported that the hotel’s lawyer confirmed Simpson was banned from the premises and that Las Vegas police weren’t investigating what they called a “private property issue.”

While TMZ reported that Simpson, 70, became disruptive at the Clique bar and glasses were broken before security escorted him out, another bar patron (who took a photo with The Juice) didn’t see Simpson drinking.

Simpson’s attorney Malcolm Laverne said he was neither drunk nor belligerent.

QUICK TAKES
