Fellow comics and celebrities are praising the genius of Charlie Murphy.

The actor, best known for his hilarious “True Hollywood Stories” about Prince and Rick James on ”Chappelle’s Show,” died Wednesday following a battle with leukemia. He was 57.

Among those remembering the funny guy were Russell Simmons, Gabrielle Union, Ice Cube, Zendaya, Samuel L. Jackson, Magic Johnson and Chris Rock, who wrote, “We just lost one of the funniest most real brothers of all time.”

Of course, he also was brother to Eddie Murphy, with whom he collaborated on movies such as “Norbit” and “Vampire in Brooklyn.”

In 2016, he toured with comics Cedric The Entertainer, Eddie Griffin, George Lopez, and D.L. Hughley, who said, “He was the best storyteller I ever heard.”

Other recent gigs included roles in the series “Black Dynamite” and “Black Jesus” and in the movie “Meet the Blacks” and in the current season of “Powers.”

According to the New York Daily News, in a final Twitter post Tuesday night, Murphy wrote, “One to Sleep On: Release the past to rest as deeply as possible.”

Starting Monday, KTVU FOX 2 is adding an 11 p.m. newscast, with anchors Frank Somerville and Julie Haener, Mark Ibañez on sports and weather from Bill Martin; station general manager Gregg Kelley says the expansion “promises to build on the legacy of the ‘10 p.m. News.’” A press release says the programming marks the first weeknight expansion of late news on the station in nearly 60 years.
