Raiders place three on PUP list

The Oakland Raiders, ahead of opening training camp on Thursday, have placed defensive tackles Eddie Vanderdoes and P.J. Hall, as well as offensive tackle Donald Penn on the active/physically unable to perform — PUP — list. All three players count towards the Raiders 90-man camp roster.

Vanderdoes, a former UCLA star and a product of Placer High School in Auburn, tore his ACL in the season finale against the Los Angeles Chargers, and was not expected to be ready.

Penn, recovering from lis franc foot surgery, was also not a surprise. Penn had not missed a game since 2007 when he went down in a Week 14 Sunday Night loss to the Dallas Cowboys with a broken foot.

Hall’s injury was not disclosed.

Notably, Oakland did not place fourth-round draft pick Nick Nelson on the list, after he was held out of spring workouts while recovering from a knee injury, an injury which required surgery back in April. The former Wisconsin standout suffered the injury in a private workout with an NFL club before the NFL Draft, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
