The Oakland Raiders cut cornerback David Amerson on Monday, two days before his $5.5 million base salary would be guaranteed for the 2018 season.
Amerson was Washington’s third-round pick in 2013, but he struggled in recent seasons. In 2017, he played in just six games — earning a 39.7 (read: not good) grade from Pro Football Focus.
When he was in coverage, he allowed opposing quarterbacks a 156.3 rating — the worst of 124 cornerbacks analyzed.
Oakland claimed Amerson off waivers in September 2015. The Raiders signed him to a four-year extension in 2016.
His high point with Oakland came in 2015, when he snagged four interceptions and returned one for a touchdown.
