Peter Frampton coming to San Francisco for his new tour

Get out the bong and the black-light posters, kids! That flaxen-haired heartthrob who stared out from every rocker-chick’s pinup-plastered bedroom in the 1970s – Peter Frampton – is time-warping us all back to said halcyon era via his new tour, “Frampton Comes Alive 35.”

And, yes, it’s really been that long since his fifth solo set – the double-record “Frampton Comes Alive!” – entered the pop lexicon and became one of the biggest-selling concert documents of all time. Through www.ticketmaster.com, an Aug. 5 show at Warfield in San Francisco has just gone on sale.

Naturally, Frampton – who no longer boasts those flowing locks, alas; time marches on – will be playing his career-defining album in its entirety, and then dipping into classics from his Grammy-winning career, like his recent “Thank You Mr. Churchill” outing and 2006’s all-instrumental “Fingerprints.”

Through his website, www.frampton.com, he’s also making special VIP packages available, which feature premium reserved seats, framed platinum “Frampton Comes Alive!” plaques, hand-signed tour posters, and commemorative VIP laminates.

As a quick recap, Frampton formed The Herd at 16, Humble Pie at 18, and even appeared in animated form on “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy.” So who cares if the guy’s turning 61 this week? He can still use that croaky talk-box and show us the way!
