49ers sign second-round picks Carradine, McDonald

The 49ers signed defensive tackle Cornellius “Tank” Carradine and tight end Vance McDonald to four-year deals, the team announced Thursday. Carradine was selected 40th overall in the second round in the NFL Draft. At Florida State, he had 118 tackles, 16½ sacks and 21 tackles for loss in 25 career games. As a senior, he earned third-team All-America and first-team All-ACC honors as the Seminoles defense finished last season ranked second in total defense and third in run defense nationally. Warriors forward David Lee named to All-NBA third team

For the first time in nearly 20 years, the Warriors have a representative on the All-NBA team. Forward David Lee, who averaged 18.5 points and 11.2 rebounds per game this season, was named to the All-NBA third team on Thursday. The last Warrior to find his way on to any of the All-NBA teams was when Latrell Sprewell was a first-team selection in 1993-94. Read More

The Warriors are hosting an end of season celebration Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Oracle Arena in Oakland. Stanford, Cal softball teams eliminated from postseason

The Stanford and Cal softball teams have both have their fair share of success on the national stage over the years. But this season, neither will be playing in a super regional. Stanford fell 10-5 to Nebraska in the Lincoln Regional on Sunday, while Cal dropped a 3-1 game to host Michigan in the Ann Arbor Regional, ending both schools’ season. Lee to give Warriors star Curry key to city in City Hall ceremony

The Warriors will be feted Tuesday at San Francisco City Hall after their playoff run ended last week. Mayor Ed Lee will declare Tuesday as Golden State Warriors Day in San Francisco, according to the Mayor’s Office. Lee also is scheduled to give the key to The City to star player Stephen Curry in honor of setting the NBA record for the most 3-pointers in a season. Curry hit that record mark in April. Read More

Top-ranked Cal off to hot start at NCAA regional

No. 1 Cal fired a school and course-record 23-under-par score of 265 in Thursday’s opening round at the NCAA Pullman Regional to take the lead after the first 18 holes of the 54-hole event hosted by Washington State. Cal leads the regional by two strokes over second-place St. Mary’s (267). Joël Stalter and Michael Weaver paced the Bears with matching 7-under-par 65s. Elsewhere, Stanford sits in third place in the Columbus Regional after a first-day 7-over 291. The Cardinal trail Charlotte by four shots. Cameron Wilson led the Cardinal with a 1-under 70. SolarCity and Goldman Sachs create $500 million solar fund

San Mateo-based SolarCity Corp. announced Thursday that Goldman Sachs Group Inc. would finance more than $500 million of its solar power projects. The funding for U.S. residential solar leases is the largest such deal ever announced, SolarCity said in a statement. The agreement was initiated last year and the funding expanded in April. SolarCity has raised similar funds from banks such as U.S. Bancorp and from corporations including Google Inc. and Honda Motor Co Ltd. Read More
