A San Francisco man was fatally shot in Hayes Valley on Tuesday night, just two blocks away from where an innocent bystander was wounded in November, police said.
Byron Beasley, 24, was found in the 700 block of Grove Street about 7:50 p.m. He had been shot in his torso and leg, and died later at a hospital.
Police said the suspects might have been driving a white vehicle. No motive for the shooting is known, and an investigation is ongoing.

A man robbed a store in downtown San Francisco on Sunday, police said.
The crook walked into the store in the 200 block of Sutter Street about 12:25 a.m. and grabbed a burrito, police said. The crook, described by police as a man in his 30s, proceeded to the register where he brandished a gun and demanded the cash.
The 36-year-old man behind the register complied and the crook fled with the cash. No arrest has been made.

A woman was attacked with ice cream before her cellphone was pilfered in downtown San Francisco on Saturday, police said.
The 23-year-old victim was in the 800 block of Market Street about 9:15 p.m. when a man and woman, aged 18 to 20, hit her with the ice cream, police said.
The victim confronted the cold crooks and put her cellphone on a table. The male thief grabbed the phone and the duo fled on foot. There have been no arrests.

A charitable man was hoodwinked in the Mission on Monday after he was robbed by two women he had just given money to, police said.
The 26-year-old victim was sitting in his car at 16th Street and South Van Ness Avenue about 6:30 a.m. when two women, one in her 30s and the other in her 20s, approached and asked him for money for food, police said.
The victim gave the women some cash and then one of them brandished a blade and demanded his wallet and cellphone, too, police said. The crooks fled on foot and no arrests have been made.

A man was attacked with a construction light in Eureka Valley on Monday, police said.
The 52-year-old victim was inside his home in the 100 block of Caselli Avenue just after 8 p.m. when he heard someone yelling and screaming in his front yard. He went outside and found a drunken 48-year-old man causing a scene.

A man was wounded in a shooting in the Tenderloin on Wednesday, police said.
The 36-year-old victim was in the first block of Golden Gate Avenue about 5:22 p.m. when two men approached him and one shot at his leg, police said. The goons then fled.
The victim’s injury was not life-threatening. No arrests have been made.

A woman was assaulted during a cellphone robbery in the Ingleside district Tuesday, police said.
The 23-year-old was near Harold and Bruce avenues about 10:15 p.m. when two young hoodlums snuck up behind her and grabbed the phone from her hands. She struggled with the pair, but was overpowered and knocked to the ground.
The two suspects reportedly fled in a gray SUV south on Harold Avenue.

Redwood City police said they are investigating a burglary and dognapping that happened sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. Monday at a house in the 200 block of West Oakwood Boulevard.
The crooks stole electronics, jewelry and 11-month-old chocolate Labrador named Gus. Anyone with information on Gus’ whereabouts can call Detective Josh Chilton at (650) 780-7141. Gus was wearing a collar with identification and contact information at the time of his abduction, police said.

An argument on Muni cut to the quick Monday, police said. Following an altercation about 3:20 p.m., a 54-year-old man’s hand was sliced by a knife-wielding man in his 40s near Haight Street and Central Avenue.
Both men exited the bus and the suspect fled. The victim was treated for his injury, which was not considered life-threatening.

Three fires in the Sunset district last week sparked investigators’ interest, police said. About 11 p.m. Thursday in the 2300 block of Cecilia Avenue, four trashcan fires were reported. Four hours later, a blaze on scaffolding in the 2200 block of Cecilia Avenue was called in. About 45 minutes later, a fence was torched in the 500 block of Rivera Street.
No suspects have been identified.

Police will honor one of their own with a memorial service today — 18 years after he was fatally shot while in the line of duty by a heavily armed and armored drifter.
On Nov. 13, 1994, San Francisco Police Department Officer James Guelff was killed by a carjacking suspect at Pine and Franklin streets, where the 6 p.m. memorial will be held. The public is invited to attend.
The carjacking suspect was later identified as 37-year-old Victor Boutwell.

A 26-year-old man was brutally assaulted outside an Inner Richmond district bar early Sunday morning, police said. The victim and a friend were in a bar in the 3900 block of Geary Boulevard about 1 a.m. when the victim went outside, police Officer spokesman Gordon Shyy said. The friend went outside a few minutes later and found the victim face down on the sidewalk and then took him to the hospital.

The victim was found by police just after midnight at 20th Street and South Van Ness Avenue. He died later at a hospital, police said. His identity has not been released pending family notification, the Medical Examiner’s Office said.

A man was killed and another wounded in a shooting in the 2800 block of Harrison Street in the Mission district about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday night, police said, marking the third fatal assault there in the past two weeks.
Cesar Bermudez, 19, of San Francisco, was pronounced dead at the scene and the second victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Police are looking for two suspects, Officer Gordon Shyy said, but they are not sure whether both suspects were the shooters.
