A man who was asleep in his car was woken up and carjacked by three crooks in the Bayview on Sunday, police said. The 42-year-old victim was parked in the 1200 block of Lane Street about 3 a.m. when one of the crooks opened the door, pulled the victim out and began punching him, police said. The crook and two accomplices got into a 1996 blue Honda and fled in an unknown direction. The victim was treated at a hospital for a swollen eye. A man was robbed by three thugs in the Mission district Sunday, even after he gave them a dollar, police said. The 44-year-old victim was walking in the 3000 block of Mission Street about 6:20 p.m. when one of the goons grabbed his arm and asked for a dollar, police said. The victim took out his wallet and gave the man a buck. A second suspect grabbed the wallet and took the rest of the cash. Then the three thugs, described as men in their 20s, beat up the victim, left him on the ground and fled, police said.

Police are ramping up their presence in the Mission district after a bloody few days, Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.There were three shootings from Friday to Saturday, and the first two were within a block of each other. About 1 a.m. Friday, a 23-year-old man was shot in the leg near 24th and Capp streets, the blog Mission Local reported. Then about 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Shotwell Street, a 19-year-old man also was shot in the leg after an altercation with three unknown assailants, police said.

A man suspected of attempted murder was apprehended Tuesday at San Francisco International Airport by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers, a spokesman for the agency said. Adolfo Suarez, 20, was arrested at 9:40 a.m. as he arrived from Guadalajara, Mexico, agency spokesman Ed Low said. Suarez is a U.S. citizen.

A woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after being robbed in the Sunset district Wednesday morning, police said. The 60-year-old victim was in the 1500 block Kirkham Street near 19th Avenue around 10:50 a.m. when a man of unknown age came up from behind her and grabbed her purse, police Officer Albie Esparza said. The thief then ran to a silver SUV, police said. A witness told police that he saw the victim running after the suspect and then grabbing onto the suspect’s vehicle before she was knocked to the ground.

A boy was ambushed by six thugs while he was playing basketball in Chinatown on Wednesday, police said.The 15-year-old victim was in a playground in the 800 block of Sacramento Street around 3:30 p.m. shooting hoops with a 14-year-old friend when he was assaulted from behind by the thugs, described as six other juveniles in their late teens, police Officer Albie Esparza said. All the suspects, five boys and one girl, began striking the victim several times before fleeing, police said. The 14-year-old playmate was not attacked.

The victim, who is in her 20s, was sitting in a Buick in the 900 block of Ellsworth Street about 10 a.m. when she became involved in an argument with another woman, Andraychak said. The first incident occurred at Geneva Avenue and Santos Street. An 18-year-old woman reportedly was standing on a sidewalk about 7 p.m. when an armed man snuck up and grabbed her tightly. He took her cellphone and threatened to shoot her as he ran away, police said.

Don’t mess with a man’s hat. A 22-year-old man was robbed of his baseball cap in the Mission district on Monday, police said. The victim was in the 2400 block of Mission Street around 9 p.m. when a man in his 20s grabbed the hat right off his head, police said. The alleged hat thief then made some kind of gang sign and fled on foot. Hours later the victim approached San Francisco police who were investigating an unrelated case and pointed out the suspect who was milling about in a crowd of onlookers, police said. A drunken driver practically turned himself in to cops last week, Ingleside police said, after he confronted two officers he accused “of cussing at him.” The two officers were conducting a separate investigation at Ocean and Otsego avenues when they saw a car drive by at about 10 miles per hour, police said. The car then made a sudden right turn, hitting the curb with its back wheel.

A man was shot in the ankle in the Bayview district early Thursday, police said.
The 23-year-old victim had just left a friend’s house in the area of Osceola Lane near George Court about 1:30 a.m. when he heard gunshots, police Sgt. Daryl Fong said. The victim felt a sharp pain in his ankle and realized he had been shot.
A relative took the man to the hospital, but his injury was minor, police said. Cops spoke to the victim at the hospital, but he was uncooperative — even seeming uncertain of the shooting location.

A man was startled awake by burglars in the Crocker Amazon neighborhood Wednesday, police said.
The 37-year-old victim was asleep at his home in the 100 block of Baltimore Way about 9:20 a.m. when he heard strange noises from his living room, police Officer Albie Esparza said. When he went to investigate, he saw two men standing in his living room.
The unarmed burglars demanded the man give up his wallet, which he did, Esparza said. One of the crooks also took a cellphone and MP3 player.
