Three men were caught by security guards at the San Francisco Zoo on Sunday night after jumping a back gate and trespassing into a secure area of the facility, according to police.
The break-in comes after the highly-publicized theft and return of Banana-Sam, a 17-year-old male squirrel monkey.
Security guards spotted the three men inside the zoo after hours at about 11:40 p.m. Sunday, according to San Francisco police.

A seagull flew into a power line Wednesday morning, causing thousands in the South of Market neighborhood of San Francisco to lose power.PG&E reported the outage just before 10 a.m., saying that 2,400 customers had lost power. A teenager who was shot in the back in San Francisco’s Bayview district is expected to survive, according to police.
San Francisco police went to the area of Third Street and Newcomb Avenue just after 10 p.m. Saturday after there were reports of five to six gunshots, police said.
Once their, officers found an 18-year-old man who had been shot in the back.
The teenager was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries that are not considered to be life threatening, according to police.
No arrests had been made in the shooting as of Monday morning.

A 38-year-old man was shot in the lip with a shotgun while sitting in his car in the Bayview district Monday morning, police said.
The man was sitting near the intersection of Shafter Avenue and Jennings Street at 3:55 a.m. when an unknown suspect walked up to the car and fired one shot into the passenger door, according to police.
The victim was struck in the upper lip and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries that are not considered to be life threatening, San Francisco police said.
