San Francisco burglary suspect puts faith in random driver in failed getaway attempt

A fleeing burglary suspect who has apparently watched too many action films hopped onto the roof of a moving vehicle last week in the Excelsior district, hollering at the driver through the sunroof to “speed up,” police reported. But instead of barely escaping the law, the suspect was arrested after reportedly being thrown off the car on Alemany Boulevard when the driver sped up for a short distance and then slammed on the brakes. 15 men fight for Tenderloin stripper's honor

A man who got into an spat over money with a Tenderloin stripper early Wednesday was jumped by 15 men and robbed, according to police. The argument between the 46-year-old man and a female dancer in her early 20s reportedly began in the New Century strip club at 816 Larkin St. at about 3 a.m. The spat then continued on the 700 block of O’Farrell Street, Officer Albie Esparza said. Fuming father stabbed by peeing man

A father was stabbed during a brawl with a vile thug who had urinated in front of his two young daughters in the mid-Market district on Tuesday. At about 6:30 p.m., police said, the disgusted 27-year-old dad was waiting at a bus stop with the toddlers near The Warfield on Market Street when the suspect approached and began peeing in the shelter, Officer Gordon Shyy said. 16-year-old arrested for afternoon robberies

Once upon a time, teenage bullies simply wanted lunch money. But on Monday, a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a younger boy for a smartphone at Green and Octavia streets, according to police. The 14-year-old victim was approached from behind about 4 p.m. Monday and grabbed by the neck. The 16-year-old then swiped the cellphone from the victim’s pants pocket and fled. Soon after, police said, officers caught the teenager as he was allegedly attempting rob another victim. The 14-year-old’s smartphone was reportedly recovered. Read More

Urgent crook uses gas station restroom before heist

A man went into the bathroom of a Chevron gas station in the 1100 block of Junipera Serra Boulevard and came out pointing a gun at 7:30 p.m. Monday, police said. The suspect reportedly made of with cash from the register along with the 33-year-old female clerk’s smartphone, police said. Midday heist downtown targets grocery deliveryman

Famished thieves robbed a grocery deliveryman in downtown San Francisco Monday afternoon. At about 2:45 p.m., police said, one of two suspects approached the 51-year-old victim from behind in the 200 block of Kearny Street, stuck a knife on his back and demanded his property. Home invaders squirt victim with BBQ sauce

Barbecue sauce was the weapon of choice for burglars fleeing a Bayview district apartment Saturday morning, police said. A 31-year-old woman told police she was watching TV in her home in the first block of Cameron Way about 8:30 a.m. when she heard a noise. The victim then saw three unknown men in her apartment. During the suspects’ getaway, police said, one of the burglars “took a bottle of barbecue sauce and poured it on the victim.” Other than the sauce, police said, nothing else in the apartment was stolen or wasted. Alleged Cubicle Con pleads not guilty to 13 burglary charges, might face more counts

The suspected “Cubicle Con” was charged Monday with robbing more than a dozen San Mateo County businesses, and prosecutors said he might face additional charges for alleged heists in other counties. Nicholas Anthony Simat, 26, of Pleasanton pleaded not guilty to 13 counts of commercial burglary in connection with eight robberies in South San Francisco, three in Burlingame and two in Daly City, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said. Fire alarm prankster bothers Fairmont Hotel guests

A prankster reportedly created a “huge inconvenience” for guests of the Fairmont Hotel in Nob Hill on March 31 when he began pulling multiple fire alarms at about 11:30 p.m., apparently “for fun.” “Each time it was pulled the hotel had to be evacuated,” police said. Arrest in Starbucks boiling water assault

A homeless man was recently arrested on charges that he poured boiling water on a customer at a Starbucks in Fisherman’s Wharf, causing third degree burns. The Feb. 20 assault reportedly occurred after the customer confronted the transient for allegedly stealing boxes of tea from the coffee shop at 2801 Jones St. “In response, the thief threw a cup of boiling water on the man’s chest,” police at Central Station said. Cubicle Con suspect caught after tip from SF businesswoman

A merchant who works in San Francisco’s Design District reportedly supplied police with the necessary information to nab the Cubicle Con. Nicholas Anthony Simat, 26, was arrested Thursday in connection with a series of brazen thefts of iPhones from Bay Area businesses. Simat’s method of operation, according to police, was to pretend to be a customer at various businesses including dental offices, auto dealerships and home improvements stores. He would allegedly wait until employees became distracted before snatching cellphones, tablets and other items off their desk. Read More

Abusive woman doesn’t like Russians

A woman was arrested last weekend for attacking an 83-year-old Russian woman who was waiting in a Tenderloin food line, police said.On Sunday, police were called to a food line on Ellis Street on a report that the elderly woman had been held against a wall, hit, and threatened by another woman “who did not like Russians,” police said.Several witnesses reportedly told officers there had been previous similar incidents involving the same suspect.
