The 49ers were happy to cap their season off with a win that gave them the NFC West Division title, but the game featured a number of other highlights for the Red and Gold as well.
Michael Crabtree set a career high with 172 yards on eight catches, including a pair of touchdowns. He became the first 49ers receiver to pass the 1,000-yard milestone in a season since Terrell Owens did it in 2003. Crabtree finished with 1,105 for the year.

On the field, the Navy and Arizona State football teams don’t have much in common heading into Saturday’s Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl at AT&T Park.
The Sun Devils run a spread offense, highlighted by quarterback Taylor Kelly piling up 2,772 passing yards and 25 touchdowns. Midshipmen quarterback Keenan Reynolds threw for just 884 yards after taking over for the injured Trey Miller in the fourth game of the year, running a triple-option offense that led to four players with at least 600 rushing yards.

Just three months ago, it didn’t look as if the Navy football team would get the chance to play Arizona State in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl at AT&T Park on Saturday.
The Midshipmen started the season 1-3 and starting quarterback Trey Miller was playing on a sore ankle.
Seemingly making things worse, with Navy trailing Air Force 21-14 in the fourth quarter, the team was forced to turn to freshman Keenan Reynolds in what was the biggest game of the season to that
point.

It was a year marked with injuries and suspensions for the Giants — and big moves by the archrival Los Angeles Dodgers. The Orange and Black rallied to win the NL West anyway, but their postseason looked like it would be cut short as they dropped their first two NL Division Series games to the Cincinnati Reds.

The Arizona State football team will not claim a national championship if it wins the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on Saturday at AT&T Park. The game against Navy will not get the national attention of the bigger games pitting conference champions against one another.
For Grandville Taylor, however, there’s no bowl game he’d rather play in. Playing a college football game in The City is literally a dream come true for the San Francisco native.
Taylor said he had a dream while he was a sophomore or junior at Washington High School.

OAKLAND — Coach Mark Jackson said Saturday’s overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers wasn’t going to dampen the team’s Christmas spirit, saying that the Warriors are “very excited about where we are and are thrilled about where we’re headed.”While a big part of that optimism is coming from All-Star-caliber seasons from Stephen Curry and David Lee, an argument could be made that the most important player for the Warriors has been coming off the bench this season.

While their performance was neither pretty nor dominant, the 49ers maintained their streak of winning games following a loss by beating the Miami Dolphins 27-13 on Sunday at Candlestick Park.
San Francisco is now 6-0 in games following a loss under coach Jim Harbaugh, and Sunday was the first time the defense allowed a touchdown in those games.
Quarterback Colin Kaepernick got off to a rocky start, as he was sacked four times in the first half and fumbled once — though the ball was recovered by the 49ers.

Frank Gore reached two milestones during the 49ers’ 27-13 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, tying one franchise record and extending another.
Gore scored his 50th career rushing touchdown in the third quarter, tying Joe Perry and Roger Craig for the most in a 49ers uniform.
The team’s all-time leading rusher also surpassed 1,000 yards rushing this season for the sixth time in his career. Craig is a distant second, reaching the milestone three times during his tenure with the 49ers.

The City College of San Francisco football team has had quite a run over the past decade and a half.
Since 1994, CCSF has claimed 17 conference championships, 13 Northern California championships, seven state titles and six national titles.
The Rams have already added to the first two in 2012, and will look to keep things going in the state title game Saturday against Bakersfield College, which won the SoCal crown with a win over Mount San Antonio College.

During the biggest game of his life — to that point anyway — City College of San Francisco quarterback Andrew Spivey found himself standing helplessly on the sideline as American River College desperately tried to reach the end zone in the final seconds of the game, with a trip to the state championship on the line.
Spivey had done his part, as he’s done all season, by throwing for 278 yards and four touchdowns in what would eventually be a 41-36 win in the NorCal title game, but he found himself in uncomfortable territory at the end.

The new owners of the Warriors have made it known they intend to change the culture of the team, with their signature move being the acquisition of center Andrew Bogut in exchange for fan favorite Monta Ellis last season.
At first glance, that move doesn’t seem to have had much of an on-court impact, as Bogut did not play for the Warriors at all last season, and has played in only four games this season while still recovering from surgery on his ankle.

Monday night’s game against the Chicago Bears — who were 7-2 coming into the game — was supposed to be a measuring stick for a 49ers team that has been inconsistent at times this season.
They passed that test with flying colors, rolling on offense and defense on their way to a 32-7 victory that was never in doubt. Up next: a surging New Orleans Saints team that gave San Francisco all they could handle in the playoffs a season ago.
