The Giants played their first game at AT&T Park on Thursday since Game 2 of last year’s World Series, reigniting the exhibition Bay Bridge Series with a 7-3 loss to the A’s.
Giants starter Tim Lincecum began the game well, striking out four in his first three innings, but gave up a two-run homer to Yoenis Cespedes in the third. He departed the game with two outs and two on in the fifth before A’s outfielder Josh Reddick homered to right off reliever Jeremy Affeldt.

The Giants announced Thursday they have extended both general manager Brian Sabean and manager Bruce Bochy through the 2016 season.
Sabean has been with the Giants organization since 1993, including 17 years as general manager. During his time at the helm, the Giants have been to three World Series and won the NL West five times.

The Dominican Republic played through a steady rain at AT&T Park on Tuesday night to claim its first World Baseball Classic title by beating Puerto Rico 3-0.
The Dominican pitching staff continued its dominating performance in the tournament as the team completed a perfect 8-0 record, the first time that has been accomplished in the WBC. The Dominicans shut out Puerto Rico for the second time in the tournament, following up a 2-0 win on Saturday during the second round in Miami.
Manager Tony Pena said the team was savoring the experience.

On a windy Sunday when the air was nearly the same temperature as the water in San Francisco Bay — both in the low 50s — the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon saw one winner that came as little surprise, and another who surprised no one more than herself. In what seems to be a recent theme for Bay Area sports, the San Jose Earthquakes had a breakout year in 2012, winning the Supporters Shield for the best regular season record after finishing no better than sixth in each of their previous four seasons since the franchise was recreated in 2008.
