A man threatening to jump off the Dumbarton Bridge this afternoon has been taken safely into custody, a Menlo Park police spokeswoman said.The California Highway Patrol received multiple reports at 2:30 p.m. of a man sitting on the rail of the bridge, CHP Sgt. SF District Attorney's Office declines to retry 1989 murder case

San Francisco prosecutors Tuesday declined to retry a man whose murder conviction for a 1989 drive-by shooting in the Bayview district that left two men dead and 11 others wounded was overturned by a judge last month.Caramad Conley, now 40, was convicted in 1994 of two counts of first-degree murder, 11 counts of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the April 1989 shootings on Third Street, according to his attorney Daniel Purcell. A gas leak prompted the evacuation of four homes in San Francisco’s Sunset district overnight, a PG&E spokesman said.The leak was reported at 11:05 p.m. Monday at 1831 33rd Ave.San Francisco fire Lt. Mindy Talmadge said firefighters arrived at the scene but were unable to shut off the gas because a valve was rusted shut. The San Francisco Zoo welcomed the first giant anteater born at the zoo in a decade on Dec. 22, zoo officials said.The 2-year-old mother is a first-time mom. A man was stabbed outside a nightclub in San Francisco's South of Market district early this morning and another man has been arrested in the attack, a police spokesman said. The stabbing was reported at about 1:45 a.m. near the intersection of Fourth and Brannan streets, San Francisco police Lt. Troy Dangerfield said. Some sort of physical altercation occurred between two 25-year-old men outside a nearby nightclub, Dangerfield said. Life-threatening injuries in Mission Dolores shooting

A 20-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries in a shooting in San Francisco's Mission Dolores neighborhood on Friday night, a police spokesman said today. The shooting was reported at 10:58 p.m. Friday at the intersection of 20th and Dolores streets, San Francisco police Lt. Troy Dangerfield said. The victim was standing on a corner of the intersection when a suspect approached and shot him multiple times before fleeing on foot, Dangerfield said. South San Francisco police are searching for suspects wanted in connection with a robbery at a Bank of the West on Friday, a police corporal said.At around 10:25 a.m., police were called to the bank located at 2288 Westborough Blvd., police Cpl. San Francisco police are investigating a frightening drive-by shooting in the Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood Thursday evening that left a 22-year-old woman’s car riddled with bullets.Police spokesman Lt. Troy Dangerfield said the woman, a city resident, was driving north on Ingalls Street near George Court at about 6:50 p.m. when someone inside a gold sedan driving in the opposite direction opened fire.Dangerfield said the woman heard gunshots and saw a muzzle flash, and later found four bullet holes in her car. Reports of a gun sighting delayed BART trains by more than 15 minutes Friday morning at San Francisco’s Civic Center station, a BART spokesman said.BART police responded to reports of a gun sighting at about 8:30 a.m. at the Civic Center station, but officers were unable to find a firearm, spokesman Linton Johnson said.The police activity caused delays of between 13 and 18 minutes for trains leaving from the station in the Millbrae, East Bay and San Francisco International Airport directions, Johnson said.
