A man who drove off a cliff along the San Mateo County Coast on Saturday remained in critical condition Sunday afternoon, a California Highway Patrol officer said.At about 3 p.m., units responded to a report of a vehicle that appeared to have crashed off state Highway 1 and plunged about 100 yards down near Pescadero State Beach, CHP Officer Eric Anderson said.A man was airlifted from the wreckage and taken to a hospital where he remained in intensive care as of Sunday afternoon, CHP Officer Arturo Montiel said.

A single-engine airplane crashed at Reid-Hillview Airport on Sunday afternoon and the lone occupant made it out safely, according to a San Jose public safety dispatcher.
The Lancer aircraft touched down at about 1 p.m. and only sustained minor damage, according to dispatcher Brenda Jaime.
The pilot was the only person on board and did not suffer any injuries, Jaime said.
The fire department sent one engine to the crash site to secure the scene and crews left the area at 1:27 p.m., Jaime said.
No fuel spilled from the aircraft, Jaime said.

A small explosive device was detonated in a San Mateo business district Sunday morning, according to the San Mateo Police Department.
A loud explosion rang out near the 1000 block of South Amphlett Boulevard just after 7 a.m., police said.
Police and firefighters arrived and found an incendiary device — similar to an M-80 firecracker — that had been ignited near an abandoned couch in front of a vacant building.
The business sustained two broken windows caused by the blast, which was reportedly heard within a half-mile radius.
