The Los Angeles Police Department interrogated artist Alex Schaefer, 41, twice after a passer-by phoned in a tip that he was outside a Chase Bank, painting a picture of it on fire. Schaefer told the officers he wasn’t a terrorist and said his painting was “a visual metaphor for the havoc banking practices caused.” Then several days later, two plainclothes detectives came to his house and asked, “Do you hate banks? Do you plan to burn any?”
