Bus driver fired after helping stranded police officers

Long Island, N.Y., school bus driver George Daw claims he was fired from his job because he picked up three Nassau County police detectives whose car was stalled in a torrential hail and rain storm. The detectives’ car was filling with floodwater as golf-ball-sized hail smashed into it. The school bus company stated that Daw was not fired “solely because of the pick-up of unscheduled passengers,” but did not give any other reasons for terminating him.
