Former Santa Fe, N.M., Sheriff Greg Solano, 47, pleaded guilty to five counts of stealing police gear to sell on eBay. He admitted to taking a wide range of property — bulletproof vests, printer ink cartridges, cellphone chargers, blank CDs and flashlights. Solano’s plea deal reduced the charges against him from 241 to five, but could still get him an eight-year prison sentence. He claimed he resorted to crime because of personal financial problems.
