A Pittsburgh, Pa., high school is refusing to allow 17-year-old Lindsay Starr to wear her U.S. Marines dress uniform while receiving her diploma at the graduation ceremony.

School officials denied her request, citing the requirement of wearing only the traditional cap and gown.

Star had finished all required classes early and joined the Marines, recently completing the three-month boot camp.
