Some 57 percent of French people polled said they believe International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn — accused of sexually assaulting a New York City hotel worker — is innocent and has been framed in a conspiracy. A widely popular Socialist politician who was preparing to run for the presidency next year, Strauss-Kahn, 62, has long been known as a self-proclaimed womanizer. He is currently being held without bail in Rikers Island prison.
