US senator owes thousands of dollars in taxes
Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., owes $287,273 in personal property taxes on her private airplane. She is a co-sponsor of legislation that would fire federal employees who are "seriously delinquent" in paying federal taxes.
McCaskill was already in trouble over the plane, having billed Congress some $88,000 for trips on it. McCaskill refunded those expenses and now says she and her husband will sell the aircraft and pay the tax bill
