WHAT: A scathing report by the State Department Inspector General blasted the U.S. ambassador to Luxembourg for leaving the embassy unable to function as an arm of the U.S. government due to her nonstop personal demands.
WHO: Auto-parts heiress Cynthia Stroum was one of President Barack Obama’s top 25 fundraisers and raised more than $500,000 for his campaign. The inspector general called her “aggressive, bullying, hostile and intimidating” as ambassador.
WHAT’S BEING DONE: Stroum resigned after seeing the inspector general’s report that her illegal spending cost taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars. Reportedly her departure was demanded by the White House.
