WHO: Andrea Fernandez-Acevedo, 34 years old and six months pregnant, who was killed when she was struck by a snowplow in New York.

WHAT HAPPENED: A snowplow driver from a private contracting company ran over Fernandez-Acevedo while she was walking her dog in her condominium complex. The pregnant woman was badly injured when emergency crews responded, and she was declared dead upon arriving at a local hospital. The dog also was killed. The driver was not injured.

MORE PROBLEMS AHEAD: Another snowstorm is expected to blanket the area, leading to more dangerous conditions — for those driving and walking.
