WHAT: When President Barack Obama hosted Philippines President Benigno Aquino III at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations on Friday, little did the leader of the free world know that it would be part of an international incident. The Filipino flag wrongfully signified that the nation was in a state of war.

HOW: A spokeswoman for the U.S. Embassy said it was an “honest mistake,” which a representative of the Philippines accepted, saying his nation declared it “an honest error.” The mistake was found in a photograph of Obama and Aquino.

WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: With all of the political sensitivity people have nowadays, it seems incomprehensible that America would pick the wrong flag of one of its allies.
