Rec centers get $100K worth of equipment

A nonprofit San Francisco Parks Trust is donating $100,000 it has raised to gift rec centers with equipment.
The GearUp Fund was established by the nonprofit’s trustees at the request of Rec and Park General Manager Phil Ginsburg a few months after he started the job, among several other ambitious goals.
While some of those goals still have kinks to be ironed out, Parks Trust announced it’s surpassed its monetary goal.
Although the GearUp Fund was set up for five rec centers, Midtown Terrace is missing off the list of beneficiaries, but the nonprofit has said the fund has not been put to rest.
Here’s a breakdown of the dollars for the other four rec centers with major donations from Koret Foundation, David B. Gold Foundation, Sports Basement and the Mimi and Peter Hass Fund:
$50,000: Harvey Milk Center for Recreational Arts, to provide equipment for the Photo Center and Music Studio
$40,000: Hamilton Recreation Center, for provide equipment for the Center’s pool, programs, and staff offices
$5,000: Sunnyside Clubhouse, for Tots (age 5 and under) program supplies and equipment; and
$5,000: Sunnyside Conservatory, for furniture to enable its use for RPD programs and as a rental space.
