Don’t be alarmed by the sirens and disembodied voice over San Francisco Thursday morning. It’s only an earthquake drill, according to the mayor’s office.

The City’s outdoor public warning system sirens will be activated at 10:15 a.m,, producing sirens followed by a voice assuring citizens it is a test. Thursday is the first time officials will use the system citywide other than the regular Tuesday noon weekly test.

The test is part of the Great California ShakeOut, the statewide earthquake drill.
