Newsom vetoes sanctuary city bill

By: Mike Aldax

10/28/09 7:26 PM PDT

As expected, Mayor Gavin Newsom has vetoed legislation amending The City’s controversial sanctuary policy.

The legislation, introduced by Supervisor David Campos, prohibits city officials from reporting undocumented youth arrested on felony charges to federal authorities for possible deportation. They can only be reported if there is a conviction.

The legislation was adopted by supervisors Tuesday in an 8-3 vote.

Newsom reiterated his stance opposing the legislation in a veto letter sent today to the clerk of the Board of Supervisors.

The veto is expected to be overturned by the Board of Supervisors. It takes eight votes to overturn a mayoral veto.

Newsom has said the legislation is not enforceable since it conflicts with federal law, and the juvenile probation officers’ labor union president supports Newsom.

I hope Newsoms action is taken with a grain of salt. What traitor Campos was suggesting isn't legal in any event, Newsoms interference or not. HE AND THE SACRAMENTO AND FRISCO LIBERALS AS GOOD AS KILLED MRS. BOLOGNAS HUSBAND AND TWO SONS, because of their dangerous policies. Decent RESPONSIBLE PEOPLE SHOULD NIX NEWSOMES PLANS FOR GOVERNOR. HE SHOULD'NT EVEN BE ALLOWED TO BE DOGCATCHER. AS FOR CAMPOS, HE NEEDS TO DEPORTED WHETHER HE IS LEGAL OR NOT. JAIL IS TOO GOOD FOR HIM.

Illegal alien children should not be in our country because, they are straining our already financially strapped education system. In addition, we already do not have the financial capacity to reform California’s youth within the Juvenile penal system, we simply do not have the recourses to house juvenile aliens.
Illegal aliens are law breakers and must be deported; also allowing them to stay in our country is unfair to legal immigrants. The none enforcement of immigration laws within the United States is not facilitating a melting pot of cutler, it is simply expanding South America, and enlarging the peasant class.
