Poll: Public wants to rein-in the Fed

There is a growing public consensus that the highly secretive Federal Reserve System, which controls the nation’s money supply and sets interest rates, needs to do business out in the open.

A new Rasmussen poll finds that a large majority of Americans (75 percent) want Congress to audit the Fed, which has not accounted for the trillions of public dollars it spent over the last year and a half in an attempt to shore up failing financial institutions. More than half of the members of the House of Representatives have co-sponsored a bill introduced by Rep. Ron Paul, R-TX, to require a public accounting of the Fed’s activities.

The Obama administration wants to give the private bankers who run the Fed - created as an independent body by Congress in 1913 in the wake of a series of banking panics – even greater regulatory powers than it already has, but 51 percent of Americans oppose such a move, according to the poll.

The Federal Reserve has worked hard using their brilliant know-how to maintain 4 percent of the dollars purchasing power since it was created in 1913.
Four pennies per dollar, how Keynesian.
And now we question their secret methods and strategy?
It's about time, don't ya think?

Wait until the public finds out how the Fed, a private banking cartel, was illegally given a license to counterfeit. They are no more Federal than Federal Express, and they've been stealing from us for years. Everyone should read the Grace Commission Report.

Blah Blah Blah from the "liberty" movement and their pseudo-economics. These guys are the new face of the militia movement from the 90's, interested in the destruction of the US not it's resurrection.

Just Google Ron Paul and racism and you'll find all you need.

Gary, you seem to be protecting the system that has reduced the US buying power by 94% since the Fed was 'invented'. Fact is The Federal Reserve is an illegal institution charging us to print our own money.... and the country is finally aware.
Once the Fed is shut down we have no choice but default on all loans and start over. This is the only solution and not one the establishment is too keen on.
