Poll: Huge majority doesn't want Democrats' health care bill

With House Democrats racing to pass their 2,000-plus page health care reform bill this weekend, a new CNN/Opinion Research poll shows that an overwhelming majority of those surveyed -- 72 percent -- want Congress either to make major changes, start over from scratch, or simply stop working on health care legislation. Just 26 percent want Congress to pass the current health care proposal as is, or with minor changes.

This was the question asked by the CNN/Opinion Research pollsters:

As you may know, several health care bills have been passed by committees in the U.S. House and Senate and they can be brought before Congress for debate and a final vote at any time. Which of the following do you think Congress should do:

** Continue working on those bills this fall and make relatively minor changes
    before passing final legislation.

** Continue working on those bills this fall but pass final legislation only if major changes are made.

** Start work on entirely new bills that would not be ready until some time next year.

** Stop working on any bills that would change the country's health care system.

The results: 26 percent want the bills passed with relatively minor changes; 33 percent want the bills passed but only with major changes; 24 percent want Congress to start work on entirely new bills; and 15 percent want Congress to stop work altogether. Just one percent have no opinion.

That means 72 percent of those surveyed either want Congress to make major changes, start over, or stop work on health care reform, versus 26 percent who want the bills passed with minor changes.

On another question, the CNN/Opinion Research pollsters found that 53 percent of those surveyed oppose President Obama's plan to reform health care, with 45 percent favoring the plan. Just two weeks ago, the same pollsters found the public evenly split on the issue, 49 percent to 49 percent.

The 53 percent opposition to ObamaCare is the highest figure in any of six CNN/Opinion Research polls since June. The question asked was whether respondents "favor or oppose Barack Obama's plan to reform health care." Even though the president has not put forth a plan of his own, the White House released a statement today saying that he strongly supports the House Democrats' health care bill.

Congress versus roughly 75% of American citizens... and Congress is feeling mighty aggressive about the PC justification of their attempted power-grab.

It will be interesting to see if American citizens are willing to do what it takes to back their own play, against a criminal mob determined to turn this nation into a dictatorship with themselves at the helm.

GO, TEA PARTIES OF AMERICA!!!

Universal healthcare has been the socialist Democrats biggest wet dream for over thirty years and they don't care about the political consequences that will occur in 2010 and 2012 from passing a bill. These Washington socialist Democrats are a bigger threat to America than any muslim nut.

If they think the anger after they passed the Cap & Tax Bill back in July was bad, WAIT until they pass this pile o' carp! If they think the message sent on Tuesday's elections was bad, where Democrats eschewed the polls and Independents who voted unanimously for that idiotic Hopenchange carp last time broke 2-to-1 for the Republicans, they haven't seen anger yet! Go ahead Blue Dogs and Moderates: I DARE you to vote for this Bill! If you hitch your wagon to the quickly sinking SS 0bamaPelosi, you might win the battle (it will die in the Senate anyway), but you will lose the war, and you WILL lose your seat! Is losing your seat and Democrat control of the House worth it? Be afraid. Be VERY afraid!

people in california should be ashamed of having a know-nothing, greedy and useless representative like nancy pelousi. No doubt the biggest disapointment this year. This person in sheep-clothing needs to be stopped. I'm not worried about harry reid, because after nov. 2010, he won't matter. Im worried about our country, mainly because obama appears like he does'nt have a clue as a leader. Next to pelousi, obama is the biggest disapointment of the Decade. Even bigger than the election of George W. Bush.

Democrats don't care what The People want. They only care for their bribes graft and now fleeting power. Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank have turned Washington into Tammany Hall... with Obama playing the role of Boss Tweed. As with Boss Tweed if Obama continues his corrption, extortion and bribery rackets he'll finish his 1st term in Jail where he belongs.

Well clearly CNN is racist. So were the pollsters. And the questions, as should be obvious to everyone, are latently racist in the most blatant way.

What else could possibly explain the poll results?

Unless, Dubya and Cheney are behind it.

Or maybe it's a wing-nut conspiracy.

Hope some enlightened and heavily degreed individuals comes this way who can HOPEfully explain this CHANGE.

And don't forget that this radical Pelosi bill that Obama supported allows illegal aliens to partake in govt-run health care. So Joe Wilson was right: OBAMA LIED.

Looks like our constituional rights are being stripped again. Our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness will be restricted by the government. Our children will pay for it. Liberals in Washington want to make us completely dependent on the government to be able to obtain our freedoms. Thus, giving them extreme power over the citzens(who are overwhelingly opposed to the legislation). Thomas Jefferson said "When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty".

What happened to the Congress representing the people of their districts and not voting based on their own idiological views? I wrote an e-mail to my representative stating that I'm against this bill and received a response touting how important this reform is and thanking me for my support!!! How can we stop these people from ruining our great country???

If you think government health care is bad. . .

Nov 8, 2009

Then you obviously haven't been keeping track of cost trends in private sector employer-based health insurance over the past several years. Employer's premiums have been steadily rising at about 7X the rate of inflation, or about 70% over the past five years. The number of small businesses that offer employee health insurance has shrunk from 65% in 1972 to about 38% now, and is continuing to decline.

All you dumb mother effers that are blasting any attempts to address the problem, don't be so surprised when your employer health insurance gets dropped, or becomes so expensive you can't afford it

Keep ingoring the people you claim to serve, mocking anyone who dares to disagree w/ you, WE THE PEOPLE DO NOT WANT THIS BILL. And We The People shall destroy you at the next elections. Bury you so deep that the color blue will disappear from existence. :)

The poll is irrelevant. Back in the days when we were a republic and not a socialist state, the Constitution prohibited this kind of thing. Now that BHO and Pelosi are running the show with their crony, "corruption", there's nothing to stop them.

The Constitution does not give the government the right to make me buy a product I do not want. And I do not want this so call health plan. Obama, Nancy, and Harry, maybe you should read the constitution that you took an oath to uphold.
