The Daily Outrage: Embattled governor hits talk-show circuit

WHO: Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich

WHAT: Blagojevich skipped out on the state Senate impeachment proceedings that could prematurely end his term, instead hitting several talk shows. Charged with public corruption for allegedly trying to sell Barack Obama’s U.S. Senate seat to the highest bidder, Blagojevich called the hearing a kangaroo court and compared himself to figures such as Nelson Mandela.

WHY IT HAPPENED: It’s hard to know what’s in Blagojevich’s head at this point. He has refused to resign and vowed to “fight, fight, fight,” but now has refused to take part in the proceedings that could end his political career.

WHY IT’S A BAD IDEA: He’s not exactly helping his case by letting the women on “The View” muss his hair. The people of Illinois would be better served if he would resign and fight the charges in court.
