Staff report
October 30, 2009

Los Angeles firefighters and synagogue parishioners huddle at the scene in Los Angeles where a gunman shot and wounded two men in the parking garage of a North Hollywood synagogue early Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009. Where: Adat Yeshurun Valley Sephardic Synagogue in North Hollywood

What: An unidentified male gunman wearing a black hooded sweatshirt entered the underground parking garage shortly before 6:20 a.m. Thursday. He approached two men arriving to attend prayer service and shot each in the leg without saying a word. He then fled as witnesses called 911.

What’s being done: Adat Yeshurun is in the heart of the San Fernando Valley’s Orthodox Jewish community, within walking distance of kosher markets, Hebrew schools and other synagogues. Los Angeles police have mounted a major investigation and security is being ramped up in the community.

PEACE

Oct 30, 2009

I am sick and tired of hatred and violence against Jews. I am not Jewish nor religious and just don't understand the lies and stereotyping and false assumptions perpetuated against a historic and beautiful race and religion. They try so hard to stay under the radar, yet even here in "enlightened" America "Land of the Free" the same tired lies during the Inquisitions and Nazi era still crop up. Their real place in history is akin to the World Heritage sites for archeaological sites, to be treasured and supported and protected. America should honor their presence. At least leave them be in peace.
