One dead in Outer Sunset shooting on street corner

A 20-year-old man was killed in an rare shooting in the Outer Sunset on Tuesday, according to police.

The man, identified by the medical examiner as Ryan Sacdalan, was shot at around 8:53 p.m. on the corner of 46th Avenue and Moraga Street, according to police spokesperson Officer Joseph Tomlinson. The victim was unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds when police arrived.

“He still had his clothing on so we couldn’t tell exactly where he was hit,” Tomlinson said.

Tomlinson said the man was taken to the hospital where he died.

But at around 10:30 p.m., what appeared to be a body covered in a tarp could still be seen on the sidewalk at the intersection.

Police had the intersection blocked off as homicide investigators canvassed the scene with flashlights.

By Wednesday morning, police had cleared the scene.

Neighbors said they heard multiple gunshots and left flowers near the spot where the man died.

“We’re so sorry for the end of the your life,” the note said, signed “neighborhood family.”

The person drew a heart on the yellow sheet of paper.

Police have not released a suspect description in the case.

Officer Robert Rueca, another police spokesperson, said police are seeking witnesses and surveillance footage. He also confirmed there is a suspect vehicle.

“It’s possible that a vehicle was involved in this incident but we haven’t been able to determine how it was involved, whether suspects came in that car or fled in that car,” Rueca said.

The shooting marked the 36th homicide in San Francisco and the second in the Sunset District so far this year. On Jan. 19, 65-year-old Nellie Hue was killed at 34th Avenue and Ortega Street in an apparent murder-suicide by her ex-husband.
