Stephen Curry has a knack for making his teammates unsung heroes.

And if the Golden State Warriors are to repeat as NBA Champions, they’ll assuredly need more performances like Wednesday’s from the MVP.

But they’ll also need Andre Iguodala to continue to do what he does best: Be the calming, veteran presence who seems to always make a play when the Dubs need it most.

On Wednesday, it was the over-the-head layup during an important second-quarter swing that made the highlight reels.

There was his ability to enter the game and force superstar Kevin Durant into three turnovers in the first quarter alone.

And don’t forget that he started horribly on the offensive end, yet still managed to finish the game with 14 points on four-of-10 shooting, and +18 — the highest +/- for any of the reserves.

His impact isn’t lost on his teammates and coaches.

“Andre is one of our best players,” head coach Steve Kerr said. “… He’s seen everything. He’s not fazed by starting 0-for-5. He’s going to keep shooting. He’s going to keep making plays.”

There’s a reason he won Finals MVP last season; it’s because he’s learned to raise his game in the biggest moments. When the Thunder took their only lead of the game with two minutes left in the third quarter, Iguodala — who shot 61 percent from the line this season — sunk all three free throws to kick off a run that ended with the Warriors going into halftime with an eight-point lead.

“Steph is going to Steph,” as Festus Ezeli put it after Game 2, but if Golden State is to come out on the winning end of a series that is likely headed for at least six games, they’ll need Andre to continue doing his thing as well.

(I refuse to unironically type “getting Iggy with it.”)
