Oakland Athletics, San Francisco prospects named to 2018 Futures Game

The rosters for the U.S.-vs.-The World All-Star Futures Game have been announced, and several of the San Francisco Giants’ and Oakland Athletics’ top prospects have made the cut.

Giants outfield prospect Heliot Ramos and Athletics left-handed pitching prospect Jesus Luzardo will represent the World, hailing from Puerto Rico and Venezuela, respectively. San Francisco right-handed pitching prospect Shaun Anderson and Oakland catching prospect Sean Murphy will represent the United States.

The game will be played in Washington, D.C., this coming Sunday at 4 p.m. on the MLB Network.

Ramos, the top prospect in the Giants’ system, was a first-round pick in 2017 out of high school.This season, he’s batting .241 with six home runs and 24 RBIs in 75 games at full-season Single-A Augusta.

Luzardo, the top prospect in the A’s system, was 2-1 in three games with Stockton this season, and is 5-3 in 12 starts since being moved up to Double-A Midland. In his time with the RockHounds, Luzardo has a 2.81 ERA and has held opposing hitters to a .215 batting average, striking out 64 in 57 2/3 innings.

Anderson, the No. 7 prospect in the Giants system, is 5-5 at Double-A Richmond, with a 3.56 ERA, and 91 strikeouts in 91 innings, with just 21 walks.

Murphy is the No. 3 prospect in Oakland’s system, behind Luzardo and the injured A.J. Puck. In 64 games at Double-A Midland, Murphy has a .289 batting average, a .504 slugging percentage, eight home runs, 25 doubles and two triples, with 42 runs driven in.
