On Thursday evening, the Oakland Athletics announced that they’ve even further bolstered one of the most dominant bullpens in the major leagues, with the acquisition of Fernando Rodney.

Since May 1, Rodney is is 22-for-25 in save opportunities with a 2.50 ERA (10 ER, 36 IP) and a .224 opponent average (30-for-134) in 37 games.

A former third-round pick by the A’s, Chalmers, 21, was 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER, 5.0 IP) in two games, including one start with Single-A Beloit this season. In four minor league seasons in the Oakland organization, he is 7-7 with a 4.08 ERA, with 137 strikeouts in 38 games, including 30 starts.
