Planning on attending Live 105’s killer-billed Not So Silent Night on Fri. Dec. 9 at Oakland’s Oracle Arena?
But we would be remiss if we didn’t inform all you diehard alterna-fans of another equally cool event the night before, Dec. 8 at 9 p.m. — the Club Not So Silent Night preparty, at Oakland’s hippest nightclub The New Parish ($25; www.thenewparish.com).
Along with (of course!) DJ Aaron Axelsen, the concert will feature three of the best young breakthrough acts of 2011, literally a globe-spanning lineup.
Headlining: New Zealand’s high-octane The Naked And Famous, whose “Passive Me, Aggressive You” was one of the year’s best albums. Before them: the combustible Welsh rock trio The Joy Formidable, led by powderkeg frontwoman Ritzy Bryan. Opening the evening: Effervescent American outfit Grouplove, touting their “Never Trust A Happy Song” debut. Its members (including Steve Gadd’s son Sean Gadd and Trevor Rabin’s kid Ryan Rabin) all met while attending an artists’ residency on the exotic island of Crete.
Just like the NSSN proper the following night, you simply cannot go wrong with this cavalcade of talent.
