Police have shut down a block in Noe Valley Friday afternoon while they negotiate with a person who is reportedly threatening to harm themselves and refusing to come outside.

Officers were called to the 200 block of 27th Street at 12:21 p.m. when a caller reported that a resident there was threatening to harm themselves, according to Officer Robert Rueca.

The subject, who reportedly has a weapon of some sort, refused to come out and police have set up a perimeter around the area while they attempt to negotiate, Rueca said. The area is closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic but no evacuations have been ordered.
