A historic Muni streetcar was derailed after colliding with a truck in San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood Monday night, blocking the entrance to a railyard.
Since trains at the Muni Metro East railyard were blocked from leaving, due to the collision at Third Street and Mission Bay Boulevard, trains on the K/T line were replaced by bus shuttles, according to San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency spokesperson Erica Kato.
The collision was reported around 8:30 p.m., and no injuries were immediately reported, Kato said. In photos of the incident the truck can be seen turned onto its side, and the historic streetcar can be seen off its rails.
Kato said the truck made a turn in front of the streetcar. The incident is under investigation by the San Francisco Police Department, she said.
This marked the second major collision in San Francisco on Monday. A truck collision injured two elderly pedestrians and a family of five in a car on Geary Boulevard and 21st Avenue at 3:44 p.m.
