Big Fish and Begonia: The 2016 Chinese animated epic is about a 16-year-old girl who embarks on a fantastical and dangerous adventure after transforming into a dolphin. Rated PG. At the Embarcadero.

Blockers: The comedy is about three parents (played by Leslie Mann, Ike Barinholtz and John Cena) who, after stumbling upon their daughters’ pact to lose their virginity at prom, launch a covert one-night operation to stop them. Rated R.

Gemini: A heinous crime tests the complex relationship between a tenacious personal assistant and her Hollywood starlet boss in the thriller by Aaron Katz. Rated R. At the Alamo Drafthouse and Metreon.

Itzhak: The documentary by Alison Chernick reveals the personality and passion of Itzhak Perlman, hailed as the world’s greatest living violinist. Not rated. At the Opera Plaza.

Journey’s End: The World War I drama set in 1918 details how British officers led by a deranged commander in France anxiously await their fate. Rated R. At the Vogue.

The Miracle Season: The death of Caroline “Line” Found, the star player of an Iowa City high school volleyball team, inspires her coach and team to band together to try and win the state championship. Rated PG.

A Quiet Place: The horror film by John Krasinski is about a family living in a desolate future where even the slightest noise can attract hideous, bloodthirsty monsters. Rated PG-13.
