The Morongo Band of Mission Indians, a Native American tribe located near Palm Springs, has donated 1,000 turkeys to San Francisco non-profits that help feed those in need.

The turkeys were divided between five non-profits: Glide Memorial United Methodist Church, the United Council of Human Services, the San Francisco African American Chamber of Commerce, the Chinese Hospital of San Francisco and the Chinatown Community Development Center.

This is the 17th year in a row that the Morongo Band has donated turkeys to the City. “Even during the times that our tribe faced great difficulties and hardship, we always found a way to give to others,” said Morongo Tribal Chairman Robert Martin.  “That spirit of giving lives on at Morongo and we hope to alleviate such uncertainty for those in need this holiday season.”
