Politically conscious musician Michael Franti gave an impromptu performance at the protest in opposition to the Dakota Access Pipeline Tuesday morning on Market Street in San Francisco.

The hip hop, funk, reggae, jazz, folk and rock artist sang “East to the West” as hundreds gathered to oppose the proposed pipeline in North Dakota that opponents say
could pollute drinking water in the area, including on land occupied by the
Standing Rock Sioux tribe.
