St. Cyprian’s Church in San Francisco’s Western Addition tolled its bells 49 times at noon Tuesday in remembrance of the 49 victims of the Pulse Nightclub shooting.
The commemoration was one of a number of such events across the country, and one of at least held in San Francisco on the second anniversary of the tragedy, which targeted a gay nightclub. Another memorial was held at 18th and Castro Streets Tuesday evening to create a space for the victims of gun violence, particular young people of color and LGBTQ youth, to tell their stories, according to organizers.
