The San Francisco Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that Mayor Ed Lee died last week of a heart attack.

The Medical Examiner’s Office listed “atherosclerotic coronery artery disease” as the official cause of death for Lee, who was taken to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital late Monday night and died at 1:11 a.m. Tuesday.

Another condition listed as a factor was “hypertensive heart disease with cardiomegaly.” The Medical Examiner’s Office will release a final report on the death in the coming weeks.
