A 31-year-old man who witnessed a group harassing a homeless man near Eddy and Hyde streets on Thursday was stabbed after stepping in to help.
The group began assaulting the 31-year-old man after he confronted them at about 9:50 p.m., and one of the suspects, identified as a man between 16 and 20 years old, brandished a knife and proceeded to stab him.
The suspects then fled west on Eddy Street, evading arrest. The victim, whose injuries were not life threatening, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
